Narwhal!

I finished this a couple of nights ago, but couldn't share because it was a little present for Dave! However, I gave it to him last night so now I can share it with you all!

This is a really simple, but adorable pattern! This one is written by Jessica Dean, and for those who would like a try, you can purchase it here! It took me a couple of nights to finish Dave's narwhal, mainly because I was making it at work, and also because I crochet painfully slow! Hope you like him!

Crofter DK Splurge

I treated myself to some new yarns yesterday and bought myself five 50g balls of Sirdar Crofter DK (it was 6 if you count the one I found on eBay afterwards...).

Yummy yarns!

Crofter is described as a Fairisle effect yarn, and comprises of an acrylic, cotton and wool mix. I've used it before, to make the feet on the Unicorn that I made last year and absolutely loved it. It's really soft and has a lovely texture when it's worked, so I'm looking forward to using it!

Magilly 0039

Rambler Rose 0059

Skerry 0042

Hound Dog 0053

Erskine 0032

The shade I have coming from eBay is more green than "Erskine", which is actually a really limey green colour that hasn't really come out in the photograph. It's a lot more attractive in real life!

Anyway I'm not sharing what it's going to be made into yet, as they're Christmas gifts, but soon all will be revealed!

Walks In The Woods

This is the best time of year to go for a stroll out in the woods, or countryside. And what better way to compliment a lovely walk, than to know you're also looking great and being very practical at the same time! Boot cuffs are the answer!

Pizza

Dave and I made ourselves some pizza for dinner last night! It was actually my first time making pizza myself, and we cheated a tiny bit and bought some just-add-water dough, but otherwise we did this ourselves and were really pleased with the outcome!

My pizza base

Pre-cooking!

Red onion, baby spinach and goat's cheese pizza, for me!

Dave's base

Pre-cooking!

Chilli, sausage, and smokey lapsang pizza, for Dave!

We were so proud! I used a tomato sauce base for mine, and Dave opted for ChanCham's Smokey Lapsang sauce - you can find the ChanCham range here! His was very spicy! I managed a bite and then had to break into a glass of milk! My pizza was delicious. Goat's cheese is one of my favourite foods, and it tasted fab on my pizza. So I was a happy bunny!

Nom nom nom!

Aren't we clever!

More crochet coming soon; I promise x

Leaves Are Falling

There is a song that I absolutely adore called Killing The Blues, and the first verse fits this weeks Autumnal leaves treasury so well, so I thought I'd share!

Leaves were falling, just like embers,
In colours red and gold, they set us on fire
Burning just like moonbeams in our eyes.

A Day In October...

Autumn leaves

Dave and I visited a local garden, Compton Acres, yesterday afternoon. It was beautiful, and such a great place to take photographs!

The Italian Gardens

The gardens consists of separate areas; an Italian themed garden, heather garden, woodland valley, rock and water garden, and my personal favourite; the Japanese garden.

Chilling in a grotto!

We both took our cameras, and it was great being able to go out together and take some pictures. We both managed to take some nice ones as well, so we were pleased with our afternoon out!

Koi lining up to say hello!

I absolutely love Koi carp. They're so beautiful, and there were some particularly stunning ones at Compton Acres!

The Japanese Gardens

I've always loved the style of Japanese gardens, and this one is no exception! The pagoda is awesome, and the colours at the moment are just beginning to turn to oranges and reds. In a week, I'm sure it'll look absolutely stunning! The Koi pond is full of stepping stones, so it's good fun exploring this garden. I love it!

Happy October!

Hope you're all having a great start to Autumn x

Where Have I Been??

Hellooo! I'm back!

I've been hibernating lately, and I'm really sorry. I've had the last two weeks off work, which has been much needed and I've been in and out of the house. Unfortunately haven't had much time to keep up with blogging, so here I am!

I spent my first week with Dave, which was lovely! The first few days, we house sat for his parents and looked after their dogs and cat, which made a nice change. It was good to get out of Dorchester!

Dog walking at 7am

We went out for little day trips when it wasn't raining, and even visited Sea Life in Weymouth, which was cool! I love aquariums and would really like a big tropical fish tank of my own one day! Sea Life will have to do for now though...

Gone fishin'!

Dave had to go back to work this week, so I've done quite a bit of scrapbooking, met some friends and caught up with things. This afternoon, I'm going Christmas shopping with my Dad! That'll be an interesting experience haha!

What have you all been up to??

Red Scarves

Back up to date! This week, I am showcasing some stunning red Autumnal scarves, to go with last week's hats! Judging by the weather outside today, you're gonna need them!
