Sunshine, Dresses and Strawberries

The weather has much improved in the last week or so, which to me is both good and bad. I like the fact that it's finally not raining, but now it is too hot!

I've never handled heat very well, but this is worse than usual because we've literally gone from February weather, straight to July, and it's a proper shock to the system! Don't get me wrong; I like a bit of sun, but this is so hot that I've not even been able to go out in it. Also, working nights, it's extremely difficult sleeping in the day when the weather is so warm and humid.

In my garden!

Even I put on a dress the other day! It was so hot...unbearably hot...bleurgh...however my tortoise, Boo, was thoroughly enjoying the weather and spent most of the day basking in the sun! I went out with his usual lunch of peas, and threw in a couple of strawberries for him to munch on as a treat!

Nom nom nom!

I love feeding him strawberries! He always looks like a vampire afterwards!

Anyway, love sun or hate it, I would really like it to rain again. Earlier I was craving a short storm, just so I could go and stand out in it! Think I'm gonna have to keep wishing...

A Foot!

Oooh ooh oooh! It's a foot!

I've actually done a bit more since, and nearly finished the leg! Slow and steady progress eh? Legs are always my least favourite part of a pattern to make...mainly because it's the same thing repeated four times. Yeah, I'm easily distracted...

Finally Summer

Summer finally seems to have reared it's head, in the UK. After record breaking floods and a whole crazy weather pattern in recent months, the sun is actually out...and for a few days running! Sun hat time!

December and January

I've been scrapbooking again today, and finished three pages! Very pleased with myself, and I've left all my scrapbook stuff out on my dining table so that I can do some more tomorrow (provided I'm still in the zone).

Organised chaos! Or something like that...

So obviously, I am still way behind with it! Today, I started with Christmas Day. This time of year was something I'd rather forget, but I always document Christmas Day; we have family over for dinner, which is always really nice!

25th December 2011

I had some wrapping paper leftover (was so proud of the wrapping, so I had to make note of it!) so I used that and some ribbon, for the side of the page. The gift tag came from a present my brother gave me, and the caption made me laugh - "To Siân! Please find enclosed a materialistic way of expressing my love for you! From Owen". I like this page though; very cheery!

Next up, I finally entered 2012! And a good way to start, was with a meeting with an old friend!

21st January 2012

Keeping it simple with some before/after shots of the two of us! The picture to the left features us both in 2005, and to the right is us together in Taunton 5 years later! Aimee is probably one of my oldest online friends, and we've actually met. Hoping to do so again soon!

Finally, I added a page with some promotional photographs I took of my friend Becky, aka Carman Havalook, for her new job working with a burlesque troupe!

23rd January 2012

I was really pleased with these photographs! I love the embellishments as well; lots of girly things! And super glittery paper, to back the photos. I really love this one though, and it's definitely an awesome tribute to my friend, as she embarked on her journey to start her fantastic new job! If you fancy checking out "Carman Havalook" and the rest of the troupe, check out the ETROIS website.

Tomorrow I am hoping to continue where I've left off; finish January and get started on February! Then dinner and fireworks with my lovely man, in the evening!

Today has been cool...well, generally cool! This morning I had to have some blood tests (booooooo) which sucked to be honest. I'm needle phobic and never enjoy this kind of thing, but who actually enjoys getting stabbed by a sharp implement?

Owie =(

My poor bleeding arm! Hurts now and is a bit bruised; stupid blood tests!

After that, my brother and I met our Grandparents in town and then we went for lunch, which was super yummy! It was nice to spend time with them, as always!

I then sat and wrote two postcards for Postcrossing...

I've sent them to Germany and the Ukraine, so hopefully they won't take too long to reach their new owners. I thought the top one in particular was really pretty! So those are now winging their way to their destinations!

Finally, the post arrived earlier and my new labels for my greetings cards were in the mail. I bought them from a wedding shop on eBay, and am really pleased!

30 tags for £6.75 (22p per tag!)

So today has been good. Although I am tired now. Time to write in my journal, and then settle down with a film and my crochet.

All Blue

We finally have some blue sky again! It's not shown it's face for a very long time, where I live, so it's so refreshing to look up and see something other than clouds and rain!

Card Orders

I forgot to post this up the other day, but I sold some greetings cards in my photography shop and wanted to share the finished orders, just before I sent them off!

Four pretty parcels!

It's a total of 6 cards, going to 4 buyers, all in America. I like to try and send them off looking as nice as possible. I bought the ribbon in a local haberdashery store, about a month ago, and think it really sets off the designs nicely! The gift tags came from my local Joshua's store, in town, but I'm now out of them so I've bought some cute luggage labels from a seller on eBay. Hopefully they will arrive soon! Anyway, what do you think? Would you be pleased to get these in the post?

Don't Eat The Daisies

I have just stumbled across the most beautiful crocheted children's blanket, I think I've ever seen! Words cannot describe the talent of Barbara Lawler...

The "Don't Eat The Daisies" blanket features some stunning 3D motifs of farm animals and vegetable plots!

I've honestly never seen anything like it. What a perfect gift for a little one! Now, I just need my friends to start having babies...

Yesterday, we had a month's worth of rain in one day. It caused complete and utter chaos, with massive flooding all over the South West. I was really worried about how I would actually get home this morning. The place I worked at was literally cut off into an island, but thankfully some of the flooding had subsided by the time I finished my shift at 7am.

Sturminster Newton town bridge

This is how the bridge at Sturminster Newton usually looks with the River Stour at a normal level. When I got to it last night, only the top few inches of the arches could be seen. This morning, I was faced with this...

After the rain...

As you can see; only the very top of the bridge was above the water. The river was running through the field and across the road, so Rosie the Micra had to convert to submarine form and swim her way through! We made it ok though...

Sturminster Mill (left) and what is usually a field...

I'm just glad I got home. We are due more rain apparently, so I'm not looking forward to making the same journey again tomorrow this space!

Yarn Bowls

Yarn bowls are probably one of the most aesthetic fibrecraft accessories available. They're beautiful and make such unique gifts! They even make fantastic ornaments, when they're out of use!

For Sale!

Hello fellow crafters!

I've been sat beavering away this afternoon, trying to make some room for my growing book collection and have had a clearout. Apart from listing books, I've got 3 embellishment sets up for grabs on eBay at the moment, and probably some more to come when I get a chance to go through my scrapbooking stuff!

Jolee's Boutique - I LOVE U

First up is this lovely "I Love U" set by Jolee's. They make awesome crafting items, and this is no exception. Would be fab for cardmaking or scrapbooking! Super glittery and very, very pink! Brand new, as you can see, and can be found here for just 99p!

Jolee's Boutique - Be Mine Valentine

Another Jolee's set, this time featuring Valentine's pieces. These are so cute and would be brilliant card toppers! The smallest "Be Mine Valentine" square in the bottom, is slightly raised an 3D, and the main feature block has ribbon and some raised pieces. A really lovely set, brand new and again starting at 99p here!

Bubbles & Borders - Love

A sheet of 32 gel stickers by Bubbles & Borders, all centred around the theme of love. Red, purple and gold colouring and including hearts and phrases such as "Be Mine", "Love" and "Valentine". Great for smaller projects! Brand new and just 99p starting price! Find them here.

If you're interested in any books or DVDs you can find them all here! They all have to go!

Keep an eye out for some more bits and bobs, because there will be some more added in the near future! I'm having a proper clear out!
