Crochet Lite

I debuted my new Crochet Lite while I was at work a few nights ago, and was very impressed!

F 4mm - buy here!

My parents bought me a couple for my birthday, after seeing me buy one for a friend as a Christmas present. As night shift workers, it is a struggle to always have decent lighting to crochet, or do very much at all for that matter, so these are a literally the best thing since sliced bread!

As you can see above, the light is super bright (I was sat in very dim light) and the hooks are easy to hold. I'm really impressed and will definitely buy some other sizes!

Do any readers use Crochet Lites? Check out their range on!

Rain Rain Go Away

Mental weather in the UK recently! We've had rain, storms, sun and wind...not normal for April! It's a little more extreme than "April showers"! Anyway, I thought I'd feature something slightly different this week, and give you a selection of weather that you can actually wear out and about. If it's raining, share some sunshine! Add a rainbow to your outfit and make people smile! Or if you're feeling a little blue; clouds and raindrops. Something for everyone!

K.I.S.S Lion Feature

The lion I made, that appears in the header of my blog, has been featured on the pattern page on Ravelry! I'm really proud, and I'm glad the designer likes him too. Many thanks for the feature!

Do any of my followers/readers keep a journal? I've used Livejournal for years but am now bored and therefore decided to take a new route and start writing in a proper journal!

Putting pen to paper

I was just wondering if you guys had any tips for journalling, and keeping to a routine and what not? I already scrapbook, which I love, and I figured this wouldn't be overly different, just about more day-to-day things, than main events in my life! I'm still going to add pictures and other stuff, but I intend for it to be a place I can vent and just be creative...about anything!

I can already seeing it develop into an addiction and I've only just written my first entry. I've been online looking up Washi Tape, and ended up buying a couple of rolls. I thought I could always use it for my scrapping, if nothing else!

Anyway, if you guys could possibly share some ideas and advice, that'd be awesome!

Damien Hirst

I had a massive treat on the 16th April, which I kind of tied into my birthday, and visited the new Damien Hirst exhibition in Tate Modern.

I can genuinely say that it is one of the most surreal and beautiful experiences I have ever had. I've been to Tate before, but never to a proper paid exhibition in there; mainly because I thought it would be stupidly expensive. I bought two tickets at £14 each, for my friend Emma and I, so it was well worth it!

My favourite part of the whole show has to be the butterflies; they were absolutely beautiful. The gallery not only has a room full of "stained glass" butterfly wings (Doorways To A Kingdom Of Heaven) but also a live butterfly room, where the insects are literally hatching from the walls. It was extremely hot, but so worth it! I also really loved seeing Mother And Child Divided, as that was the main reason for me wanting to visit. I can proudly say that I have walked through the middle of both a cow, and a calf. It's absolutely fascinating! I also really liked the sharks and sheep; all strangely beautiful seeing them suspended motionless in Formaldehyde. It was very much worth the money!

Massive thanks to my wonderful friend Emma, for joining me on this once in a lifetime trip!

Birthday Time

Yesterday was my 23rd birthday (which is why I am posting this up a day late). I had a great day, and in celebration I am sharing some beautiful cake toppers and garlands with you all. Enjoy!

I forgot to write about these the other day (how, I have no idea!) but the gift tags that I ordered for Summer and Oliver's presents arrived in the post. I found a fantastic seller on eBay called ewanog who hand paints and customises wooden gift tags for all kinds of occasions! I couldn't resist for just £1.95 each!

I figured that they could keep the tags afterwards and use them as decorations; I like that kind of thing. Really into shabby chic! Anyway, I thought these were beautifully made, and they were delivered in excellent time (posted the same day that I ordered, infact) and were wrapped in gorgeous colour coordinated tissue. Really pleased!

I'm hoping to buy bags that match the tags, hopefully in gingham but you can't have everything, and then stuff them with tissue and put another little present underneath for each child. That part is still a work in progress! I can't wait to have the giraffe finished so that I can start my wrapping! I started him this afternoon and he currently has half a head...we all have to start somewhere!

Anyway if you are interested in purchasing your own wooden gift tags, I highly recommend visiting ewanog's eBay store!

Here Comes the Sun

We've had some strange weather in the UK in the last week or so; even some snow! So I thought I'd welcome the sunshine back with a selection of yellow to warm your hearts! Enjoy!

Owls and Blankets

This was originally going to be a progress entry, to show you how far I have come with my blanket since I last mentioned it. However, I was then introduced to the Dorset Wildlife Trust website, and the owl webcam page! Well, obviously, being an owl addict and having the opportunity to sit and watch Barn and Tawny owl nesting boxes was too tempting for me, and I'm not quite sure where the last half an hour has gone!

Tawny owl chicks

There are three hatched Tawny chicks in the nesting box, and I managed a stealth print screen while their Mum went outside earlier. They're so cute!

The return of Mummy owl

I could literally watched this all night! I'll probably check in again before I go to bed! So adorable...

Anyway, the real purpose of this entry was to show you the latest round on my blanket. I've finished the first darker blue and have moved onto a really pretty cyan colour.

Next round will be another of dark blue

Prior to stitching in the lighter blue

I've worked out, according to the dimensions on the pattern, that I'm about a quarter of the way through. So it'll be pretty big when it's finished! How do you think I'm doing so far?

Lue and Sue

I just stumbled across a beautiful blog, called Lue and Sue. I originally found a picture of an amigurumi rabbit in a photograph on Pinterest, which showed up on google for me, but I had to investigate the rest of her work!

Amigurumi rabbit

Can you see why it caught my eye? She is absolutely beautiful! The above is a piece that has sold in her Etsy shop (very jealous of the buyer...I want it!). And in turn, I managed to find her blog; Lue and Sue!

Fresh flowers

Not only is Cary a fantastic crochet artist, but also a painter and photographer! Is there anything this woman can't do? Very pleased to have found such a fantastic talent and thought I would share. Enjoy!

I Need A Name!

Greetings! I am the pink zebra that Siân has been working on for months! I'm finally finished; woohoo! Alas, I need a name. All I know is that I am a girly girl, and am going to be living with a little girl called Summer!

Going for an afternoon stroll

I have pretty pink buttons and moving legs, so going for walks is lots of fun! I can also sit and relax in the sunshine if I want to! I'm super fluffy and feel all velvety!

Being so cute is hard work!

I can't wait to meet my new owner, Summer! But for now, I will have to wait until my giraffe friend has been made. Hopefully he won't take too long! He will be joining me on my journey, and will live with Summer's brother, Oliver!

Siân and I

If you would like to suggest a name for me, I'd really appreciate it!

Granny Square Tortoise

We woke our pet tortoise, Boo, up from hibernation last week. I just stumbled upon this adorable granny square pattern!

I think the Granny Square Tortoise pattern, by Brigitte Read, is absolutely adorable!! And so simple; what a fantastic idea, using granny squares for the shell plates. And what makes it even better? It's a free pattern! Enjoy!

The Easter Bunny!

It's that time of the year, where the Easter Bunny spreads some joy and pays some visits! I've caught the little critter a couple of times and compiled a Treasury for you all!
